Excavation History

The Exploration & Excavation Branch can be segmented into two distinct periods following the partition of the Indian subcontinent.

Pre-18th Amendment (1951-2011)

Under federal Archaeology administration, our department excavated various sites across Pakistan, including significant locations in Sindh, K.P.K, Punjab, and Balochistan.

Post-18th Amendment (2011 Onwards)

Since the devolution of the Department of Archaeology & Museums in 2011, the Culture Department Government of Sindh has taken charge of excavation efforts. Some notable sites include Banbhore, Mansurah/Brhamanabad, Amri, Chahu jo Daro, and Mumal Ji Mari.

 Collaboration with Cultural Institutions

We plan to collaborate with museums, libraries, and other cultural institutions, fostering a collective effort in preserving our rich cultural heritage.
